This document provides information about Mind Management and Counselling services.
Typically, therapy consists of an average of four sessions. Suggestions for change will be provided, but implementation requires active participation from the client. After each session, an electronic handout is emailed to the client. This handout offers steps to address your concern, including reading materials, techniques to try, and helpful links. Sessions are scheduled two weeks apart for progress, with a free check-in by text after one week to assess your situation and adjust the plan if needed.
Please find below information about the boundaries and responsibilities pertaining to therapy sessions:
Duty of Care
Counsellors must avoid actions or omissions that could foreseeably harm clients by anticipating risks and taking steps to prevent injury.
Confidentiality
Conversations between client and counsellor remain private. The counsellor may discuss concerns with a supervisor but will not disclose the client’s name.
Mandatory Reporting
Counsellors are legally required to disclose client information in two situations: when there is suspected or known child abuse or neglect, or when such information is requested by a court of law.
Informed Consent
Clients allow counsellors to securely keep case files for future use.
Counsellor’s responsibility
Listen to the client, suggest solutions, and provide relevant information.
Client’s responsibility & rights
Clients may accept or decline suggestions, continue or end sessions at any time, request additional information, and file a complaint with a counselling association if needed.
Sessions
Each session lasts 1 hour at a time we agree upon. If you arrive late or miss your appointment, I am available for the remaining time in that hour. You can contact me by email or phone—if I am unavailable, please leave a message and I will respond promptly. The number of sessions may vary based on your needs.
Fee and Cancellations
Each session is $150, or $500 for four sessions (a $100 saving). Up-front payment is preferred to encourage commitment to the change process. Cancellations require 24 hours’ notice; otherwise, repeat offenders may be charged $150. We will try to reschedule in case of illness. Invoices are sent before your appointment and fees must be paid at least 24 hours in advance, or your booking will be cancelled.
All sessions are 100% money back guarantee if you are not completely satisfied with the service.
Non-Registered Health Practitioner
Counsellors and coaches are not recognised by the government as registered practitioners. As a result, their services are not covered under the GP’s “Mental Health Plan” or eligible for private health insurance claims.
Ending the counselling relationship
If you feel therapy isn’t helping, please let your counsellor know so it can be discussed before ending sessions. Provide one week’s notice if you wish to finish, so we can talk about your decision. There is no obligation to continue, and you’ll typically sense when it’s time to conclude therapy.
Either the counsellor or client can end the counselling relationship. If the counsellor thinks a referral to another professional is needed, they will discuss this with the client before proceeding.
